Atlanta & Hawkinsville Railroad

Organized in July 1886 and chartered in December of that year, the Atlanta and Hawkinsville Railroad Company was authorized to build a line from Atlanta to the middle Georgia steamboat port of Hawkinsville, or to Thomasville, or to both places. Very little was accomplished and in 1887 the partially built line was renamed the Atlanta and Florida Railroad.
