Harlem Depot

Harlem's 1896 depot is no longer standing, having been demolished in 1965. The building followed a standard design of the Georgia Railroad, one also seen at Crawfordville and Monroe.

Note the slight curve at the bottom of the gable in the photo above. This
design element was found on several other Georgia Railroad depots.

Harlem (pop. 2,753) is located in southern Columbia County 25 miles west of downtown Augusta. Oliver Hardy of the comic duo Laurel & Hardy was born here in 1892.
