Ailey's little Seaboard Air Line Railway depot, constructed in 1904, is now used as city hall. Transportation Enhancement funds for rehabilitating the building were approved in 1999.

The rail line at Ailey is now operated by the shortline Heart of Georgia Railroad.

The town, with a population of around 500, is located in Montgomery County in middle Georgia.
